Hey, I'm Trish Tweddell
I know firsthand the frustration of feeling stuck in progressing with your horse. After years of being coached in ways that worked against my anatomy—and watching countless riders struggle with the same disconnect—I knew there had to be a better way. That’s why I created the Total Self-Carriage Program.
Through a blend of anatomical embodied classes (Seat Foundations), strength training workouts (Independent Seat), and Hypopressive flow classes, I help riders understand their bodies, build strength, and move in true harmony with their horses.
My goal is to empower you to ride with clarity, confidence, and connection—creating a partnership with your horse that feels effortless and transformative.

I'm Trish Tweddell. Â Here's My Story.

I’ve loved horses for as long as I can remember. From the moment I first sat in a saddle, I was captivated—not just by the beauty of horses, but by the connection we can create with them. Today, I’m living my dream: helping riders all over the world move well with their horses, creating partnerships that feel effortless, harmonious, and deeply rewarding.

But it wasn’t always this way. In the beginning, my focus was on training horses to carry their riders well. I’d work with horses, refine their movement, and send them back to their riders—only to have them return a few months later for “refresher” training. It was a frustrating cycle, and I knew there had to be a more sustainable solution. That’s when I realized: the missing piece wasn’t just in the horse’s training—it was in the rider’s ability to move with their horse.

I started coaching riders to improve their equitation, helping them become softer, more balanced, and better able to flow with their horses. But I noticed something: while riders could make changes during a session, those changes rarely lasted. I wanted to create lasting transformation—not just for the horse, but for the rider too.

In 2016, everything changed. I was introduced to the mini roller, a simple piece of equipment that would completely shift my approach to coaching. After just a few minutes of using it in the saddle, I saw riders improve drastically. Their coordination, balance, and ability to connect with their horses transformed before my eyes. I had so many questions: How was this possible? What was happening in their bodies? That moment sparked a journey into human functional movement for riders—a journey that continues to this day.

In 2020, I enrolled in the very first Train Your Seat™️ course, diving deep into the biomechanics of the pelvis. It was here that I discovered the power of embodied anatomy—learning not just about muscles, fascia, and bones, but how they work together to create movement with our horses. Over the years, I’ve completed four intensive trainings, covering the pelvis, spine, legs, and shoulders, and I’m proud to be the only 4* Train Your Seat™️ Rider Biomechanics Coach in Western Canada. These courses didn’t just teach me about anatomy—they taught me how to help riders feel their bodies, build strength, and move in harmony with their horses.

Today, my focus is on helping riders achieve sustainable, lasting improvements in coordination, balance, strength, and the ability to absorb force. I believe every rider possesses the potential to seamlessly blend with their horse’s movements—it’s not about talent, but about understanding your body and how it moves. That’s why I created the Total Self-Carriage Embodied Fitness Program: a space where riders can participate in live workouts, stay curious about anatomy, share videos, get feedback, and build lifelong habits that support both their riding and their overall well-being. It’s not just about better equitation—it’s about moving well for life.

I do this because I know the frustration of feeling stuck in the training process. I’ve been there—trying to make changes that don’t stick, feeling disconnected from my horse, and wondering if I’d ever truly “get it.” I also know the joy that comes from finally feeling in sync with your horse, moving as one, and experiencing the kind of partnership that makes all the hard work worth it.

My goal is to empower riders to understand their bodies, build strength, and create a connection with their horses that feels effortless and transformative. This isn’t just about riding—it’s about creating a sustainable approach to horsemanship that supports both the rider and the horse for years to come.
