What Are Hypopressives?
Â
Hypopressives, meaning "low pressure", is a transformative practice that blends breath work with movement to awaken the body’s deep postural system.
The poses, inspired by goddesses like Venus, Athena, and Demeter, are designed to honor strength and balance while engaging the fascia and core stabilizers.
Through a combination of dynamic, static, and asymmetric positions, paired with the apnea breath, that creates an abdominal vacuum via manipulation of thoracic pressure.
This process activates the diaphragm, pelvic floor, and intercostal muscles, restoring posture, improving breathing, and enhancing overall body awareness.
The practice evolves into a deeply focused flow, moving seamlessly through the goddess-inspired poses and from one apnea to the next. It’s both energizing and restorative, offering a unique way to strengthen the body while calming the mind.
Hypopressives not only improve endurance and rib mobility but also create a profound connection to your body’s natural intelligence. It’s truly life-changing.

Why Every Rider Needs Hypopressives to Transform Their Equitation.
Â
Develop an Independent Seat
- Hypopressives strengthens your pelvic floor, stabilizes your pelvis, and improves hip mobility, giving you the foundation for a balanced, independent seat.
- You’ll feel more connected to your horse’s movement while staying grounded and secure in the saddle.
Enhance Core Stability Without Tension
- A strong core doesn’t mean a tight core. Hypopressives teaches you to engage your deep core muscles in a way that supports your posture and balance without gripping or bracing.
- This translates to smoother transitions, better balance, and a more fluid ride.
Improve Focus + Presence
- Be Fully Present in the Saddle: Hypopressives enhances your body awareness, helping you tune into subtle shifts in your horse’s movement and respond with precision.
- Clear Mental Clutter: The breathing techniques promote a calm, focused mind, allowing you to ride with intention and clarity.
- Deepen Your Connection: By staying present and attuned, you’ll foster a stronger bond with your horse, creating a more harmonious partnership.
Improve Breathing + Relaxation
- Endurance + Strength for Breathing Muscles: Hypopressives trains the diaphragm, intercostals, and other breathing muscles to work more efficiently, building stamina and strength for sustained performance in the saddle.
- Breathe with Ease: Develop a deeper, more effective breathing pattern that supports relaxation and connection with your horse.
- Stay Calm Under Pressure: Hypopressives helps regulate your nervous system, keeping you grounded and focused even in high-stress riding situations.
Refine Your Posture
- Hypopressives realigns your spine, shoulders, and pelvis, correcting imbalances that may be affecting your riding.
- Better posture means clearer aids and less strain on your body during long rides.
Prevent + Heal Injuries
- From pelvic floor dysfunction to back pain, Hypopressives addresses the root causes of common rider injuries.
- It’s a proactive way to keep your body strong, functional, and pain-free for years to come.
